We work to advance women’s equality and justice by empowering women from underprivileged areas to effect social change via improvements to their lives and livelihoods. For this purpose, JVS has established a favourable environment for women’s entire development through beneficial economic and social policies, enabling them to reach their full potential for equal access to participation and decision-making. To strengthen women’s collective power, the organisation intervenes through the development of Self-Help Groups, Community Based Organizations, and Federations, among others. Members of self-help groups participate in little savings and inter-lending to supplement their income.
Organisation has also undertaken initiatives and executed programmes aimed at developing, empowering, and instilling independence in existing Federations and Community Based Organizations in Panchayats in three districts of Uttar Pradesh. At the panchayat level, women’s pressure groups (PGs) have also been created to facilitate collective thought, contemplation, and action on micro and macro issues impacting women and their ivelihoods.
