On March 15, 2024, Jan Vikas Samiti conducted an assessment camp for children & youngsters with disability at Bhitari (Saidpur), Gazipur. The camp aimed to help children with different disabilities get their needed care and support. 23 children with various disabilities, including Cerebral Palsy, Learning Disabilities, and Down Syndrome were screened. A team of physiotherapists, special educators and prosthetic & orthotic technicians took part in accessing the physical and education needs of children & youngsters with disability. The team also measured to provide two ankle foot orthoses and one hand splint. The assessments covered various aspects, such as speech and language development, education, physiotherapy, daily living (ADL) activities, gait training, domestic tasks, and child and parent counselling sessions. Parents received invaluable guidance on home-based education, therapy techniques, and ADL support to empower them in aiding their children’s development and well-being.
