Jan Vikas Samiti’s primary goal through its community health initiatives is to decrease mother & newborn mortality rates via enhanced reproductive health care and education, as well as community engagement through street plays and wall paintings. This critical component of public health encompasses programmes that assist neighbourhood residents in protecting and enhancing their health, preventing the spread of infectious illnesses, and preparing for natural catastrophes.
Through self-help groups, community-based organisations, and youth clubs, the goals is to foster a sense of community in the neighbourhood, encouraging residents to converse about the problems that affect them. Through the “Safe Motherhood Initiative”, the organisation empowers mothers via neighbourhood programmes, preparation phases, mindfulness programmes about schooling, and conceptual wellness programmes for adolescent girls and young women. As a result of this campaign, during the course of three years of our activity in the specified territory, adolescent girls and young women have reached a developmental stage.
Through a rights-based approach, the safe motherhood initiative seeks to empower 8,000 rural women and girls to access comprehensive services for maternal health care.

Our ‘Water, Sanitation and Hygiene’ (WASH) initiatives aim to enhance sanitation and hygiene standards in grassroots villages of states of Uttar Pradesh and Bihar. The intervention especially recognizes the sanitation need for Persons with Disabilities (PwDs) and marginalized girls in our target area of work under the ‘Swatch Bharat Abhiyan’ initiative of Government of India. Behavioral change, awareness and trainings are also the major focus areas of our WASH intervention. For this purpose we have even formed Village Monitoring Committees (VMC) to ensure regular use and maintenance of toilets based on various hygiene and cleanliness indicators.
