Distribution of Dry Ration Kits to People Affected by Ethnic Conflict in Manipur https://janvikassamiti.org/event/distribution-of-dry-ration-kits-to-people-affected-by-ethnic-conflict-in-manipur/ Thu, 28 Sep 2023 06:38:16 +0000 https://janvikassamiti.org/?post_type=event&p=9094 The ethnic conflict in Manipur has left many families struggling for survival in the face of adversity. Since May 3, 2023, many lives have been lost, thousands of houses destroyed, and the need for relief support is as critical as ever. Jan Vikas Samiti (JVS) took a small initiative to support people in need of relief materials at this crisis time.

Dry Ration Kits Distributed to 500 Families: Jan Vikas Samiti’s efforts took shape in the form of dry ration kit distribution, aimed at alleviating the suffering of 500 families, with special attention given to persons with disabilities, widows, and those affected by HIV/AIDS. These essential kits included 25 kg of rice, 3 kg of sugar, 3 kg of dal, and 2 litres of cooking oil, providing relief and sustenance to those grappling with the consequences of the conflict.

Phased Distribution Ensures Effective Reach: The distribution was executed over four phases, spanning from July 17th to July 28th, 2023. This initiative became a reality through the invaluable support and partnership of a local NGO operating in Manipur, whose dedication and commitment were pivotal in ensuring that aid reached the hands of those who needed it most.

Acknowledging Lifesaving Support from the Liliane Foundation: Jan Vikas Samiti extends heartfelt gratitude to the Liliane Foundation, the Netherlands for their timely and invaluable support, which made this humanitarian endeavour possible. Their help has been instrumental in reaching out to the affected people during these trying times.

A Hope for Peace: Jan Vikas Samiti is hopeful that the situation in Manipur will soon improve, paving the way for peace and stability in the region.

Covid-19 Awareness & Vaccination Campaign https://janvikassamiti.org/event/community-awareness-meeting-for-covid19-vaccination/ Tue, 27 Jul 2021 20:05:38 +0000 http://localhost/wordpress/?post_type=event&p=1491 Raising awareness among the community on COVID-19 vaccination in the current scenario is the need for testing time to break widespread myths and misinformation about vaccine hesitancy. Therefore, Jan Vikas Samiti developed a range of IEC materials like posters, leaflets, and booklets to provide accurate and scientific information about the virus and its prevention methods to enable the community to make informed decisions to adopt COVID-19 precautions and get vaccinated in order to protect themselves, families and communities.

Vaccination against the COVID-19 virus is the key to preventing deaths and pausing the mutation of the virus into stronger and more infectious variants like Delta and Omicron. Thus, the challenges of vaccinating whopping rural communities where poverty, lack of information, limited access to health care services, and illiteracy are widespread, vaccination efforts become a formidable task.

In these circumstances, Jan Vikas Samiti, with the support of the Dasra Foundation, took up the task of investing resources for creating massive awareness on COVID-19 from the 1st week of August 2021. Besides creating mass awareness, we have facilitated vaccination for 101,988 rural population in the past 5 months in Varanasi, Jaunpur, Agra, Mahmudabad, Gorakhpur, Kushinagar, Sant Kabir Nagar, Siddarth Nagar, and Basti districts of Uttar Pradesh. Every day, volunteers of Jan Vikas Samiti set out in the field with the primary objective to create door-to-door awareness on COVID-19 viruses’ preventive measures and motivate the community members towards vaccination.
