Jan Vikas Samiti successfully conducted a two-day intensive training on sustainable, natural, and organic farming from 28–29 January 2026 at the Training Hall, Varanasi.

The program provided hands-on learning led by Natural Farming expert Dr. Ganesh Kumar Gupta, who demonstrated the preparation and effective use of natural inputs such as Jivamrit, Bijamrit, mulching, Vapsa, and eco-friendly plant protection solutions, including Brahmastra, Agniastra, and Dashparni Ark.

Agricultural Scientist Dr. Shivam Chaubey highlighted the long-term benefits of organic and natural farming, motivating participants to adopt low-cost, environmentally sustainable practices that strengthen both livelihoods and local ecosystems.

A total of 55 women farmers from Harahua Block actively participated, gaining practical skills and confidence to drive sustainable agriculture in their communities. This program marks a significant step toward women’s empowerment and climate-smart farming in the region.

Jan Vikas Samiti, Varanasi organized a one-day training program at Puaari Khurd Village, intending to promote entrepreneurship and sustainable rural livelihoods. The program focused on enhancing awareness of income-generating activities, non-agricultural enterprises, and animal husbandry to encourage self-reliance among rural communities.

Dr. Shivam Chaubey shared insights on entrepreneurship development, income opportunities, and effective utilization of local resources. Mr. Vivek Kumar Maurya provided practical guidance on non-farm enterprises, animal husbandry practices, management, marketing, and government schemes.

The program was supported by Jan Vikas Samiti field workers Jadavati and Anju and saw active participation from villagers, who found the training informative and useful. Jan Vikas Samiti continues its commitment to strengthening rural livelihoods through such capacity-building initiatives.

Exposure Visit at Rama Dairy, Jaunpur (U.P.)

Jan Vikas Samiti, Murdaha, Varanasi organized an exposure visit under the to Missio Project at Rama Dairy, Naduali, Kerakat, Jaunpur (U.P.) for 20 women farmers from various villages of Kerakat Block.
The visit aimed to strengthen the technical knowledge and entrepreneurial capacities of women farmers through exposure to scientific dairy farming practices. Participants gained practical insights into improved dairy management and observed live demonstrations on the preparation of milk by-products.
Hands-on training was provided on milk processing and value addition, including the preparation of paneer, curd, ghee, khoya, and other dairy products. This practical learning experience helped participants understand ways to enhance product quality, increase income, and explore local market opportunities.
The exposure visit was successfully coordinated by the project team and marked an important step toward promoting sustainable livelihoods, enhancing women’s skills, and encouraging women-led rural enterprises.

11. Capacity-Building Seminar on Gender Equality and Justice Block Baragaon | 18 November 2025

Jan Vikas Samiti conducted a one-day capacity-building seminar on Gender Equality and Justice at Gram Panchayat Hasanpur, Block Baragaon. Women and adolescent girls from Hasanpur, Bhiti, Sherwanipur and neighbouring panchayats actively participated in the session.

The seminar provided a safe and encouraging space for 120 participants to reflect on issues of equality, rights and dignity, and to strengthen their confidence to challenge discrimination within their communities.

Forty women farmers participated in the training facilitated by Mr. Ravindra Pratap Singh, who shared practical insights on poultry and fish rearing, feed formulation, and market linkages for small-scale entrepreneurs. The participants also visited model units such as fish ponds and hatcheries, where they observed integrated livestock systems in operation. The interactive learning experience helped participants connect theoretical knowledge with real-world practices. The training encouraged women to explore animal husbandry as a viable source of income, strengthening their economic independence and contributing to community development.

Jan Vikas Samiti organized a 2-day exposure visit to SHUATS, Prayagraj, for farmers from Varanasi and Jaunpur districts. On March 8, 2025, Jan Vikas Samiti, in collaboration with NABARD, celebrated International Women’s Day in Murdaha, Varanasi, bringing together 1,200 women from the Harahua, Pindra, Baragaon, and Kerakat blocks. The event featured cultural performances, including traditional folk songs, dances, and plays, as well as personal stories of resilience and success. Interactive sessions encouraged attendees to embrace leadership roles and explore new economic opportunities.

Distribution of Vending Carts- Promoting Rural livelihood

Today, Jan Vikas Samiti (JVS) distributed vending carts to 20 rural women from the Harhua block to initiate livelihood activities. These women have been trained by JVS in small eateries production and marketing. The distribution took place after a short orientation on the importance of women’s involvement in economic activities for financial independency. Addressing the participants, Mr. Chandran Riymonds, the Executive Director of JVS, highlighted the crucial role of women in economic activities, which enhances their dignity and respect within their family and society. The women expressed confidence in earning between rupees 300 and rupees 500 daily by engaging in activities such as selling vegetables and fruits in local markets and running small eateries using these vending carts.
