Women and adolescent girls from Hasanpur, Bhiti, Sherwanipur and neighbouring panchayats actively participated in the session.
The seminar provided a safe and encouraging space for 120 participants to reflect on issues of equality, rights and dignity, and to strengthen their confidence to challenge discrimination within their communities.

JVS conducted a one-day capacity-building programme on 5th November 2025 at Namami Gange FPO, Bankat, Varanasi, aimed at promoting animal husbandry as a sustainable livelihood option among rural women. Forty women farmers participated in the training facilitated by Mr. Ravindra Pratap Singh, who shared practical insights on poultry and fish rearing, feed formulation, and market linkages for small-scale entrepreneurs. The participants also visited model units such as fish ponds and hatcheries, where they observed integrated livestock systems in operation. The interactive learning experience helped participants connect theoretical knowledge with real-world practices. The training encouraged women to explore animal husbandry as a viable source of income, strengthening their economic independence and contributing to community development.

A total of 15 participants took part in the training, where they learned about government schemes and entitlements available for persons with disabilities. Through group discussions and shared experiences, they explored how to support others in their communities who often face difficulties in accessing their rights due to lack of information and other barriers. This training helped participants become more confident and better prepared to guide and assist persons with disabilities in their local areas.

The training helped participants learn about government schemes and support available for persons with disabilities. It also focused on how to form and strengthen Disabled People’s Organizations (DPOs), and how to support people with disabilities through the Community Based Rehabilitation (CBR) approach. Everyone shared ideas, learned together and left with new energy to make their communities more inclusive and supportive for persons with disabilities.

Jan Vikas Samiti, Murdaha, Varanasi, is proud to have successfully organized a transformative three-day workshop from August 5–7, 2025, on “Strengthening DPOs: Government Schemes, Entitlements, and Advocacy.”
We were honoured to host 10 dedicated DPO leaders from diverse regions across Rajasthan (Ajmer), Madhya Pradesh (Betul, Khandwa), and Haryana (Sonipat, Bhiwani).
Over three intensive days, participants:
:- Explored ways to understand and access key government schemes and entitlements.
:- Learned strategies for effective legal advocacy to advance disability rights.
:- Developed concrete action plans using the SMART approach for greater community impact.
The workshop empowered leaders with essential knowledge, practical tools, and a renewed commitment to ensure persons with disabilities access their rightful benefits. Witnessing leaders from multiple states collaborate, share experiences, and learn together was truly inspiring!

The course is recognized by the Rehabilitation Council of India (RCI), New Delhi. The program was jointly inaugurated by Shri Uttam Ojha, Member, Advisory Committee for Persons with Disabilities, Uttar Pradesh, Shri Badri Prasad Verma, Block Development Officer (In-Charge), Harahua Block, Varanasi, and Shri Chandran Riymonds, Secretary cum Executive Director, Jan Vikas Samiti.
The students will gain both practical and theoretical training for the rehabilitation of persons with disabilities at the community level.
Addressing the students, the guests emphasized on the role of technical education in empowerment of persons with disabilities and employment opportunities and appreciated Jan Vikas Samiti for this important step towards building an inclusive society through this initiative.

On this occasion, Case Worker Mrs. Priyanka Devi provided detailed information on Menstrual Hygiene Management (MHM), potential marketplaces for sanitary pad sales, product quality, and ways to enhance it. A total of39 Beautician trainees and 23 Tailoring traineeswere awarded certificates for successfully completing their courses.
The training programs, part of JVS’s skill development initiative for young women and adolescent girls in rural areas, focus on beautician and tailoring skills. The beautician course runs for 3 months, while the tailoring course spans 6 months.
This event celebrated the dedication and hard work of these young women, who are now equipped with valuable skills to build brighter futures for themselves and their families.
